Early Learning and Water Safety
Early Learning and Water Safety (2.5 years - 4+ years)
Starting from 2.5 Years old, the Early Learning and Water Safety Program is all about getting your child confident and independent in the water. All swimmers aged 2.5-3.11 years old will start in Turtle, and swimmers aged 4+ years with minimal experience will start in Pufferfish.
The program has an emphasis on increasing their ability to swim without a parent or family member with them, as they begin to enter classes with one of our wonderful AUSTSWIM instructors. As well as gaining confidence, they will begin to learn the basics of Freestyle and Backstroke kicking, as well as independent floating and the importance of water safety.
Turtle
Length: 30 Minutes

Learning aims
Beginning at 2.5 years old and up to 4 years old, this class is designed to give your child confidence and independence in the water without a parent or guardian.
They will be in the water with an instructor and will learn to blow bubbles, kick and float with floaties on and practice survival floating.
Clownfish
Length: 30 Minutes
Ages: 2.5-4 years

Learning aims
Beginning at 2.5 years old and up to 4 years old, this class is designed to build upon what your child has learnt in Turtle.
They will be continuing the swimming they did in Turtle with an emphasis on swimming without their floaties and teaching independent floating and kicking. They will also learn to dive/submerge and jump in independently.
All new students must begin in Turtle.
Pufferfish
Length: 30 Minutes
Ages: 4 years and up

Learning aims
Beginning at 4 years old, this class is designed to get your child comfortable and confident in the water, with a strong emphasis on building independence whether they are coming from Turtle/Clownfish or are brand new.
In this class they will learn to kick on their front and back independently, and learn to surbmerge and blow their bubbles under water.
Sea Star
Length: 30 Minutes
Ages: 4 years and up

Learning aims
This class is designed to build upon the independent swimming your child gained from Pufferfish or equivalent. To enter this class, your child must be able to submerge and blow their bubbles underwater and kick on their front and back independently.
In this class they will learn their Freestyle and Backstroke arms as well as their Star Floats.
