Development Squad Program
Development squads aim to transition swimmers from Junior Squads through to being a competitive swimmer. These squads develop swimmers to improve their fitness and skill base over each session. Coaches plan sessions with an emphasis on technique across all four strokes.
Our Development Squads are further supported with events such as school holiday Squad Clinics, Super Sprints, Mega Swims and Red & Blue Days; as well as our partnership with the Norwood Swimming Club.
Langman
Length: 60 Minutes
Class Size: Varies by day - Check with swim school
Learning Aims
The Langman Squad is the starting point of our Development Program, where swimmers begin to transition from learning basic squad skills to refining specific training techniques for each stroke.
This squad emphasizes not only the enjoyment of swimming but also focuses on preparing swimmers for the next level of competition. Key goals include ensuring swimmers are having a positive experience in the water, promoting them to the Bastian Squad, and mastering correct techniques for turns, strokes, and medley transitions. Swimmers also learn proper dives from the pool edge and meet established criteria for freestyle, backstroke, and medley strokes.
Regular attendance at a minimum of two training sessions per week is expected, along with consistent participation in competitions to foster development and progression.
